Installation Instructions
Proper installation ensures your documentation plate meets the Coast Guard’s “permanent affixing” requirement and remains secure for the life of your vessel.
- Prepare the Surface: Choose a clearly visible interior structural location (such as a bulkhead, transom interior, or hull stringer). Clean thoroughly to remove wax, oil, and residue.
- Apply Marine Adhesive: Coat the back of the plate with a marine-grade adhesive such as 3M™ Marine Adhesive Sealant 5200 to create a strong, permanent bond.
- Secure Mechanically: Fasten using the four pre-drilled #8 stainless-steel screws in the corners. Tighten until snug without overtightening.
- Ensure Permanence: Mount the plate so that removal or replacement would cause visible scarring or damage to the surrounding area, as required by regulation.
- Visibility: Install in an interior location that remains easily visible for inspection — not behind panels, lockers, or removable linings.
Important: Please double-check and enter your official number exactly as it appears on your documentation — errors in numbering are the customer’s responsibility and cannot be refunded due to numerical mistakes.
Built for the marine environment, the USCG boat documentation plate delivers a clean, professional appearance and long-lasting compliance for your documented vessel.
