Before and After

Below is a small collection of customer submitted install shots and testimonials.  We’ve made SO MANY panels (we’re guessing around 10,000 totally custom designs to date).  We love when customers send us before/afters, and plan to continue updating this page as we get good ones.  Please see also our panel projects page for more examples.

91. LuxMatte! 2009 Boston Whaler 230 Dauntless

  • 1401_Boston Whaler 230_Before
  • 1401_Boston Whaler 230_After

Maybe it’s the Luxmatte lenses altering our view, but does this even look like the same boat?!

The first step in designing Jon K.’s new dash layout was removing the center waterfall panel. Not only did the removal double the dash space, it also modernized the boat immediately!

With the center insert gone, and in the spirit of modernization, Jon went with our 1/2″ LuxMatte and opted for the etched, backlit push buttons. He added a blue LED backlit Boston Whaler logo, and cleaned up the final look by switching from analog to digital gauging.

What a dramatic – and beautiful – transformation on this Whaler! Big thank you to Jon K. for choosing New Wire for his remodel!

90. LuxMatte! 2004 Regulator FS26

It never ceases to amaze us at how much of a difference a full dash panel can make! Our customer, George R., reached out to us after deciding to upgrade his Garmin to a 16” unit. He knew he wanted the aesthetics of the huge unit to match the aesthetics of his boat… and knew we’d be the perfect people to help him!

This 2004 Regulator FS26 is outfitted with our 1/2” LuxMatte material, separated into 2 panels to fit the dash’s curvature. On the right side are 13 Bluewater push button switches (etched) and 4 gauges. And on the left side, you’ll find that 16” Garmin along with a Garmin instrument display and a backlit Regulator logo.

We love getting to be a part of a boat’s overhaul!

89. SeaVee 340Z

SeaVee 350Z Before and After

Check out this much needed upgrade on an older SeaVee 340Z! The before panel was faded, starting to crack, and the Contura III rockers on it were label-less and melting. Our customer knew he wanted to go with the full modernized look – stainless steel push button switches, backlit text and logo, and even 2 waterproof, dual USB-C chargers on either end.

We love getting to see small refreshes make such a big difference for our customers!

  • BEFORE - 1996 Bertram Moppie 36'
  • AFTER - 1996 Bertram Moppie 36'

We’ve got an awesome upgrade on a ’96 Bertram featuring one of our newer panel materials, Grained Baywood!

Our customer, James L., wanted to keep the old school feel but give it a modern refresh… and this textured woodgrain was the perfect answer! In addition to adding a dash panel & replacing his old switch panels, James also got 2 brand new 16″ Garmins; simplifying (and showing off) his beautiful Bertram dash.

87. LuxMatte! 2020 Bayliner Trophy 22CC

When we’re building panels for a newer boat, we don’t expect as dramatic of a transformation as we see in some of our other projects… but we were blown away at the difference made by putting everything on a dash panel!

When Jason M. reached out to start his upgrade, he already had a pretty clear idea of what he wanted in terms of style. After a few phone calls with his Project Manager, Ryan, they were able to:

  • Adjust the locations of his chartplotter, VHF, and stereo
  • Move the new meters and gauges from behind the wheel
  • Relocate the switch panel, putting it closer to eye level
  • Bring night readability by upgrading from (non-backlit) Contura IIIs to Red LED backlit Contura Vs
  • Add 2 dual-USB chargers for on-deck charging – a huge upgrade from the single 12V the boat had before

All of these upgrades and additions were done using our 1/2″ LuxMatte material.

86. 2006 Angler 2600 CC

  • 2006 Angler 2600 CC - Before
  • 2006 Angler 2600 CC - After

Check out the epic transformation of a 2006 Angler 2600 CC all the way from Guinea (West Africa)! We took this boat to the next level with our custom dash panels; but our customer, Sam A., did a technology/control center overhaul, making our panel transformation that much sweeter.

The 1/2″ Gloss Black panels we used fit right in to the twin Garmin 8612s – giving the boat a sleek and modern vibe that’s hard to resist. The LED backlit 22mm Bluewater push button switches we installed sit perfectly around the blue LED backlit text, adding a touch of style and much-needed night readability.

But wait, there’s more! We hooked this bad boy up with two awesome Scanstrut products — a waterproof wireless phone charger on his upper dash and a waterproof USB-C charger on the lower panel. These babies are built tough, perfect for life out on the water. Say goodbye to low battery woes and hello to staying connected.

Our customer even included a templating shot, showing us his console after cutting out the space for his new units. Our clear mounting templates are an exact replica of the panels themselves – making installation simple and concise.

85. 2020 NauticStar 231 Hybrid

  • BEFORE - 2020 NauticStar 231 Hybrid
  • AFTER - 2020 NauticStar 231 Hybrid

Our customer, Brian S., from way down the Florida coast got his blackout look completed just in time for summer! His Nauticstar 231 Hybrid is just a few years old, but he was ready for a new look after seeing the dash we did for a friend of his.

In addition to knowing he wanted the blackout look, Brian also knew that he wanted to make the change from toggles to push buttons. He decided to go with our stainless steel 22mm Bluewater Push Buttons, moving them up from the lower dash and getting them in his line of vision next to his units.

Speaking of units, the gauges got ditched and replaced with another 12″ Simrad – really tying Brian’s dash together and completing the sleek blackout look on his 2020 NauticStar!

84. LuxMatte! 2021 Worldcat 325

  • Before - 2021 Worldcat 325
  • After - 2021 Worldcat 325 on LuxMatte

This Worldcat dash install was done by one of our dealers out of Corpus Christi, TX and WOW at the upgrades that are possible, even on newer boats!

Drew S. and his team at Lighthouse Marine Technologies made sure to get the perfect fit for the install. The 16″ Garmin units are surface flush mounted – meaning the units were installed from the front, on top of the panel, but are mounted to sit as flush as possible.

The customer also added some backlighting to his dash – trading in the toggles for Blue LED Contura V rocker switches.

Great install work by our dealer & crew at Lighthouse Marine Technologies – this Worldcat is going to turn heads all summer!

83. LuxMatte! Maverick 17′ HPX

Mavrick 17 HPX - Gloss Black Acrylic Dash

We aren’t sure the year of this Maverick, but WOW – it looks like a brand new boat with our LuxMatte dash installed! This project is the perfect example for showcasing that you don’t have to own a huge boat to have a sweet set up.

Going with our 1/4″ LuxMatte  (as opposed to the necessary 1/2″ needed in bigger projects) and Blue LED backlit switches/logo, this customer was able to pack a punch on his console – only working with a surface of  approx. 17″ x 11.5″!

Once the dash was empty, the console needed a bit of re-fiberglassing to make sure his new panel had a secure base for mounting. After the new fiberglass cured, all it took was a quick template overlay, the drilling of the mounting holes, and an easy installation of the panel; Then, our customer was ready to get back on the water – this time, in style.

82. 1999 Wellcraft 210 Fisherman

  • 1999 Wellcraft 210 Fisherman - Before
  • 1999 Wellcraft 210 Fisherman - After

Another take on the blackout look – Graphite Fiber! The original panel material was WELL(craft… ha ha) past its prime after nearly 25 years. This customer was ready to bring some night readability to his dash, so he swapped the old toggles for Blue LED Contura V Rockers.

Still in the spirit of ditching the old, our customer also dropped the panel mount breakers and opted for a fuse block instead! The finishing touch was adding the upper dash panel to give the full-fit look. Making sure his measurements and cardboard templates were just right, the customer was able to seamlessly mount his new upper dash around the glove box and behind his unit. Templating is key to a perfect project!

81. LuxMatte! 2007 Imago Yachts 48’

Here’s an awesome before and after from across the world!

This 2007 Imago 48 was originally built by an Italian shipyard, Cantiere Navale. While the boat was built it Italy, it currently resides in Stockholm, Sweden and underwent a full rebuild during the process of upgrading the dash panels!

We couldn’t wait to see the final outcome/install of this project. It included FIVE ½” LuxMatte panels, outfit with 22mm bluewater push button switches, backlit text, reverse flushed and surface mounted units, and custom, backlit logos. The project turned out even better than we’d hoped!

80. 2007 Pursuit 2760

  • Before - 2007 Pursuit 2760

As much as we love our Luxmatte, we never forget about the OG Blackout – (Black) Gloss.

This project was fairly simple in terms of parts – no switches, no backlights, and no accessories. But don’t let that simplicity on paper fool you… this panel is gorgeous.

Built for a 2007 Pursuit 2670, the original dash was only fiberglass – no panel – with cutouts for units, which actually made giving his dash a new layout pretty easy! The bare dash allowed for plenty of play room in design, creating that perfect custom feel for this Pursuit.

79. 2006 Ocean Master 27’

What a difference a full new dash panel makes – WOW!

Devin L. from Florida was ready to modernize his Ocean Master and get all those units on one panel. He decided on going with our Matte Black material and went with the natural core to add some backlighting. The units kept their surface mount but were able to be moved around to a more functional, evenly spaced layout (one of the many benefits of doing a full dash vs a switch panel!).

With the units in their new places, we were able to move his new blue LED backlit Contura V switches down and even add a backlit logo! The 12V socket was replaced and Devin also decided to add a USB outlet underneath it. His final new addition to his dash panel was the voltmeter.

78. 2006 Mako 1901

We brought some blackout to this Michigan Mako! First, it was time to ditch the tombstone panel and extend the material all the way across the dash. The customer added a GARMIN unit, ditched a couple gauges, and upgraded his Fusion – meaning all we had left was upgrading his switches and deciding on a mounting technique for his units!

For the mounting technique, the customer decided to go with surface mounting. And for the switches, he decided on bringing some backlighting to his dash with our laser etched Contura V rocker switches.

Sometimes all it takes are a few simple upgrades to make a HUGE difference. Ready to start your difference? Click the button below to get quoted!

77. LuxMatte! 2006 Sea Pro 27

Aluminum to a full LuxMatte blackout was the move for this xxx Sea Pro 27. Getting rid of the inset dash and bringing those units out was priority #1 for this customer. Even with the surface mounted GPS, radio, and VHF, we still had plenty of room to get his switches moved from behind the steering wheel! The change from toggles to the sleek push button switches brings out that modern look even more.

The blackout flows to the lower dash and features one of our favorite productsthe wireless charger. The final custom-made touch that we got to create for this Sea Pro is the blue LED backlit quote at the bottom. The quote reads, “Carpe diem! Rejoice while you are alive; live life to the fullest; make the most of what you have. It is later than you think”.

76. 1994 Mainship 47 Trawler

This three panel project was designed/built for an old builder we don’t have come through very often – Mainship. Mainship Corporation, now a part of Marlow Yachts, built trawler boats from the late 1970s until their Marlow acquisition in 2012. There aren’t many original Mainships floating around these days (we’ve only designed 5 Mainship panels so far!), so we were very excited to add this 1994 47 Trawler project to our library.

New switches with clear labels and seamless unit display was high on the priority list. Starting with the side panels, the customer purchased 2 Garmin 7612s which were both surfaced mounted onto Matte Black material. His other featured electronics include a Fusion RA770, a Standard Horizon VHF, and a LENCO trim tab system, all of which were also surfaced mounted. His left side panel also features a 4.8A fast charge USB, a 12V outlet, 2 ACC switches, helm seat control switches, and a windlass control switch.

It was time for that tired and worn out switch panel to go, go, G-O. The customer decided on Red LED Backlit Rocker Switches with laser etched Contura V actuators and surface mount breakers for quick resets when needed. The Matte Black material also houses 3 Indicator lights for the bilges.

We love getting a chance to work on panel upgrades for any and every boat model! Got something even bigger than this that needs a custom made upgrade? We want to help! Get Started on your Request for Quote below!

75. LuxMatte! 1999 Hydra-Sports 230 Seahorse

Just because it isn’t a full dash doesn’t mean it can’t be bad ass! This ’99 Hydra-Sports got a new tombstone panel, fresh new push button switches, and a big gauge/MFD upgrade! All of that plus the slate gray, non backlit logo and text etching really brought the 230 Seahorse into 2022.

74. LuxMatte! 2015 Tidewater 230 LXF

The change to a blackout-style dash is a game changer for this Tidewater. The customer knew he wanted to go for the style of the full dash panel, but past that was totally open to his project manager’s design ideas. After some phone calls, emails, and cardboard templates, his new panel was ready for production. Just a few short weeks later, the new panel left our shop in Charleston, SC and made its journey to Maryland. We were stoked to see the photos of the panel post-installation.

The BEFORE specs:

  • Contura III rocker switches (non backlit)
  • Carbon Fiber switch panel
  • Analog gauges/meters
  • Panel mounted breakers
  • Tidewater logo (non backlit)
  • Garmin 7610
  • Polk Audio

The AFTER specs:

  • ½” LuxMatte Material
  • 22mm resettable push button switches
  • Blue LED backlit text and logo
  • Garmin 7610
  • Fusion RA70NSX Audio
  • Yamaha 6YC MFD

73. LuxMatte! 1999 Mako 28′

We can not get over the transformation of this 1999 Mako 28’. The customer, Dave, and his project manager, Griffin, worked together to figure out a new layout that was more functional out on the water. The first step was getting the switches moved up and across the dash – along with upgrading them from the 23 year old toggles to the backlit bluewater switches. Instead of going with backlit text labeling, the customer wanted to do our laser etched actuators on his brand new switches.

The next big step was getting rid of all the gauges and getting them centralized and digitized. Along with ditching the gauges, they were also able to get rid of the old school indicator lights that took up a big chunk of the dash. The units are both RayMarine Axioms, 12” and 9”.

Finishing off the project is the LED backlit Mako Marine logo. Since the switches were moved up and spread across, the former switch panel spot was the perfect place to add this final touch.

This massive dash panel made for a fun project! Interested in getting your boat a brand-new look? Click the button below to get started.

72. 2010 Tidewater 2100

Mike C. from Mississippi first gave our Contura II actuators a try, but decided that his craft needed the full works.

After about two years of those (check out how those switch covers have survived the heat!), it was time to do some dash redesign. The glove box got torn out which opened up the dash for unit mounting. The gps found a new home surfaced mounted on the dash and a brand new VHF was mounted right below it.

Mike C. also wanted to change from a 12V outlet to a USB charger, but his awesome project manager was able to get the 12V in there, too! The Contura II switches were upgraded to Contura V – which means backlighting and night readability.

All these upgrades came together on our Matte Black material and really made a huge difference for this 2010 Tidewater 2100.

Backlighting is the main reason our customers make the change from Contura II to Contura V. Wanna learn more about backlit rocker switches? Click the button below!

Testimonial:

“I continue to keep coming back for the great products and service at a fair price. When I am done everyone oohs and aahs over my projects. Keep up the good work! They make me look good.”
