BLUEWATER SWITCHES – PUSH BUTTONS
New Wire Marine is a Master Distributor and Developmental Partner for the innovative Bluewater switching products. We know this product line backward and forward…
The beauty of a Bluewater switch is in its customization and functionality — we’re talking hundreds of switch function icons and thousands of variables that allow you to get exactly what you want. And with backlit-LED illumination for superior visibility and the option for etched labels, the possibilities are endless.

New to Bluewater Switches?
With a reputation for dependable craftsmanship, Bluewater marine push button switches add a clean, modern look that lasts. These Bluewater switches offer the widest range of function options available, and feature easily swappable buttons so you can quickly change functions. Plus, having the switches backlit with blue LED while the function is off and red when it’s on offers unique, improved visibility to your dash.
Here’s what makes Bluewater push buttons a good choice for your boat:
Many Function Options
Bluewater marine switches feature a wide range of function options (e.g., On/Off; Off-On-Off; Off-On-On; Off-Momentary-Momentary, etc.) There are literally thousands of variations available for these push buttons.
For example, with a OFF-MOM-MOM switch, you might use it to control a windshield vent … but you do have to cycle through the “up” position to get to the “down,” so you might want to use two separate (ON)-OFF switches for a windlass. If you are getting a complete panel assembly from New Wire Marine, our panel sales representative can guide you through these types of decisions.
An obvious example for the OFF-BOTH-ONE switch is a navigation anchor. Or, you could also use this Bluewater push button variation for a helm/courtesy light combo, or other lighting control where you want one set, or all sets. We’ve even seen it used for an overhead light under a hardtop where you have 6 or 8 small lights, but might want to use only half of them for a “half bright” option.
The Bluewater push button switch OFF-ON-ON might be used to control the forward and aft spreader lights. Note, there’s also an OFF-ON-ON-BOTH switch that’s really cool.
There are also speciality switches, like a solid state switch that switches ground (imagine that!) that’s useful in some relay situations. And, there’s a momentary Bluewater 22mm switch variant that stays red for a horn when in backlight mode. There’s even a dimmer switch with a built-in Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) dimmer with an incredible 8A current capacity.
As you can see from the examples above, when combined with our unlimited options for laser-etched labels, this line is EXTREMELY flexible.
Plus, this innovative company has more product releases coming out all the time! Rest assured that as a Developmental Partner-level Bluewater Master Dealer, New Wire Marine will be the first to know and offer these exciting new marine products.
Better Visibility
Another unique advantage of Bluewater push button switches is that at night, every switch is constantly backlit with blue LED light for unparalleled visibility.
While push buttons from other manufacturers only light up when “on,” Bluewater LED Electronic Push Buttons are backlit in blue when off, and then the light color changes to red when pressed on.
That way, you can see exactly what you’re pressing and what function is currently in use — even when you stay out too late for that last cast.
Etched Labels
Both 22mm and 19mm Bluewater push button switches can have the label etched directly onto the cover.
With an etched switch, you can easily change the insert.
Because if the label is etched onto the panel itself, you’re pretty stuck with what you have. (That is, until you’re ready for New Wire Marine to build you a brand-new custom dash panel with etching!)
Easily Switchable
Bluewater switches feature easily swappable buttons that make it a snap to change functions.
The plug connector on the back allows for easy and fast hot swapping of switches, whether it’s due to function changes, rating changes, or if you’re simply replacing failed parts.
By comparison, other brands have wires located up in the holster and aren’t as easily replaceable.
Bluewater Push Button Switches Highlights:

- Weep holes allow standing water egress w/o impacting IP69k rating
Stainless Steel vs. Etched Marine Push Buttons
Bluewater switches can have labels etched directly on the push button, or you can get them with a plain stainless steel cover and have your text labels etched into the panel above the switch.
What you need often depends on the scope of your upgrade project.
For example: Do you just need to replace a specific worn-off switch, or are you considering a fully custom panel?
A non-etched option is for you if you know you need one replacement for a specific button on a dash that already has function names labeled above the buttons on the panel. Unless you’re replacing the entire dash panel, you’re obviously stuck with whatever function name is already etched into your panel.
With an etched push button, you can easily change the insert. Plus, the way that the LED light shines through the etched label directly on a push button makes it crystal clear where each function is located and whether or not it’s on — and that means less fumbling in the dark, and less of a chance you accidentally hit the windlass when you meant to turn on a light.
Panel Examples with Bluewater Push Button Switches
Check out some of our favorite custom panels rocking Bluewater switches!
As you can see, these push buttons add a contemporary, sleek look to any dash panel. We especially love etched push buttons when they're flush mounted on a LuxMatte panel. It's hard to beat a modern blackout dash!
Unlike any other manufacturers, Bluewater pushbuttons come with all the solid state switching built into a full-length, one piece, stainless steel case.
Most often, as you’ll see on other switches, there’s a joint where the threaded case is attached to the potting case. Unfortunately, that’s a common point of failure if too much pressure is put on the wiring. That’s not the case with Bluewater.
Bluewater solved this issue with a one piece case design, and topped that off by adding threading to the entire length of the case. This makes the switch mountable in materials of any thickness up to 1 1/2″… and also allows for the treading on of the innovative removable cap on the back.
