Our spotlight this week is a bit different than the usual. We’re going to be scaling the boat size down just a tad from our spotlight of the mega center console last week…

Okay, more than just a tad.

We’re going to take a look at the World’s First Go-Kart on the Water: AquaKart.

The Go-Kart on the water is essentially exactly what it sounds like (and now we suddenly need a new toy added to the garage collection). These mini hulls are powered using jet propulsion and are operated with pedals.

Yep, you read that correctly. You can now put the pedal to the metal (or non stick decking, in this case) ON THE WATER.

The Jet Propulsion system used is the Rotax Jet Power – Rotax 900 ACE. This engine powers many common jet ski brands, and tops out at an impressive 41 mph.

AquaKart’s website doesn’t mention any history on the conception of this new Go-Kart on water, but does give a brief overview of the concept behind it.

Built with innovation and entertainment in mind, AquaKart has their sites set on three main sectors:

  1. Hotels and Resorts

  2. Marinas

  3. Boat Rental Businesses

Their website doesn’t delve deep into the sectors but features a great video and more photos of the go-kart style racing tracks set up in the water:

As mentioned previously, the engine used in the Ark-1 tops out at 41 mph; we are taking a guess here, but we are pretty sure the San Diego-based company has governors installed to keep the speed demons at bay.

Don’t worry, I’m sure sometime in the near future we will still be able to catch somebody amidst a minor #BoatFail in their 108” hull.

The Ark-1 is the first release by AquaKart and reads on their website as still being the pre-order phase. Their second model, the Ark-E, has little to no information online yet, but it is in the works for certain!

Here’s a few specs on the Ark-1 that we haven’t mentioned yet:

  • Digital Gauge Cluster
  • Shifting for Neutral, Forward, and Reverse drive
  • Adjustable steering with a Formula 1 inspired steering wheel
  • Adjustable race style bucket seat
  • On-board dry storage
  • custom graphics available
  • various seat sizes available

The mini hull comes in at:

108” (9 ft.) Long

51” (4 ft. 3 in.) Wide

35” (2 ft. 11 in.) Tall

434 lbs.

We expect to see more AquaKart tracks popping up as the new wave of entertainment for land-based people, but it’s certain to make a splash as the new toy/tender for super yachts as well. Be on the lookout for an AquaKart track in your area!

If you’re reading this and have driven an AquaKart, please leave a comment below! We are dying to know more about the Go Kart of the Water.
