Marine Circuit Breaker – Push to Reset

Marine Circuit Breaker – Push to Reset

This Marine Circuit Breaker is similar to the resettable breakers that we use in our custom marine panel assemblies. Our thermal breakers come in six sizes: 3A, 5A, 7A, 10A, 15A, 20A, 25A. and 30A. They trip off and can be reset right from the front of the panel.

They are easy to install with a 3/8″ drill bit, our breakers have a small form factor to fit more switches in a smaller space. At only 1.16″ x 1.53″, they are some of the smallest in the industry.

Breakers can replace the failure-prone and annoying to replace fuses for your branch circuit protection. Remember to protect the primary feed from the panel with a larger in-line fuse or circuit breaker close to the battery.

Marine Circuit Breaker Features:

  • Waterproof boot included with each breaker
  • Easy Push-to-Reset design
  • Small form factor
  • #8 Screw Terminal Connects
  • Rated for use up to 32Vdc (perfect for 12V too)

When this breaker trips, a small plunger pops out under the waterproof boot. Simply press the boot back in to reset the circuit breaker. Our breakers are CUL, UL,  and UL PEQZ2.E466099 rated for ignition protection.

How to Size Your Marine Circuit Breakers:

The ideal way to select is to look up your load’s specs and choose the next size up from the current draw used by your load.

You should also never use a circuit breaker that exceeds the current rating of the wire supplying the load. In most practical cases on a boat though, a 16AWG 105ºC insulated boat wire is the smallest you’ll find. It’s rated at 21A even inside engine spaces. So unless you’re running smaller than 16AWG wires, this is not a huge concern.

A decent rule of thumb is to use 10A for lighting loads and 15A for pump loads. For higher current loads like a windlass or a high volume pump, you might consider bumping it up to 20A. Do this to be on the safe side and to avoid annoying spurious tripping issues.

Another method is to check the fuses you’re currently using and select the same size breaker.
