Backlit Rocker Switch – Wiper High/Low/Park

This genuine Carling rocker switch labeled “Wiper High/Low/Park” is manufactured by laser marking, NOT printing.   Laser technology allows for a stunning backlight effect.

This switch is quite unique – it has an ON output in all three positions (up, middle and down).  We pair it with a wiper label in this case for use when you have a wiper motor that has a HIGH, LOW and PARK position.  This would be used when your wiper motor has a separate high, low and park wire lead coming out of it.

Park position on a wiper is what gives the motor power when it’s turned off, so that it can return to the edge of the windshield out of the view of the driver.  Without the park function, when the wipers are turned off, they stop right where they are (even in the middle of the windshield), which may cause you to have to try over and over again to stop it at just the right time… annoying.

How Does the Backlighting Work?

• Laser marking the cover allows light to be visible only where we have marked
• Text and symbol markings illuminate – not the normal ink over a lens
• Both top and bottom lights in this switch are externally triggered independent lights – normally wired to the nav light circuit, although either can also be jumped to an output to become an indicator light as well

Will It Fit?

This rocker switch will replace any Carling V-series or Contura style rocker switch.  That includes Contura style switches sold by Carling, Sierra, Blue Sea Systems, Sea-Dog, etc.  It uses an industry-standard 1.45″  x 0.83″ mounting hole.

Wiring Info & Wiring Diagram:

This rocker switch has 10 terminals on the back:

1. 12V input – terminal 2
2. 12V output 1 – terminal 1
3. 12V output 2 – terminal 3
4. 12V output 3 – terminal 6
5. negative source (top light) – terminal 7
6. lamp positive source (top light) – terminal 8
7. negative source (bottom light) – Terminal 9
8. lamp positive source (bottom light) – terminal 10

• NOTE:  An external jumper between terminal 2 and 4 is necessary to make this switch work as an ON-ON-ON like we want it to.

On Contura Styles and Colors:

This Wiper High/Low/Park illuminated rocker switch is a special Contura V style made to be laser engraved, as pictured above.  It is a similar shape, but different texture and appearance than Contura V switches that are meant to be printed.  As you can see in the images there is no lens… the etching actually becomes the lens.  So generally folks do not mix and match these switches, even among printed Contura Vs.

We carry this switch with warm white incandescent lamps or red, blue, green, amber, bright red, and cool white LEDs.  The illumination only affects the lighting, not the color of the engraving.  Blue and cool white is our most bright color, followed by warm white, then red is the least bright.
