Regulator Boats is the blueprint for the beautiful Carolina hull that inspires so many center console builds today. But in 2019, they decided to test new waters – announcing the release of their first crossover with the 26XO.
Their branching out into crossovers is showing no signs of slowing down, either… Regulator is expanding their crossover line with the biggest of the series yet: The Regulator 30XO.
…
What are crossovers?
Crossovers are fairly new to the marine industry… they’re basically the love child of an offshore center console and a flats boat – built to get way out and way in.
About the Release of the 30XO
This announcement came at the 2023 Miami International Boat Show, and Regulator already has plenty out there to show off… So let’s jump in!
At first appearance, anyone familiar with builds will be able to immediately recognize that the 30XO is a Regulator – even with the lower gunwale height. And the sleek build offers plenty on board, pulling equally from Regulator’s offshore center consoles and the best flats boats.
Forward and aft casting platforms descend into a spacious hull, coaming-padded to handle the drop in deadrise from the offshore models.
Regulator 30XO Specs

- LOA: 30’7”
- Beam: 10’2”
- Dry Weight: 9,525 pounds
- Fuel Capacity: 222 gallons
- Deadrise: 15 degrees
- Draft: 21” (engines up), 35” (engines down)
- Fresh Water: 23 gallons
- Power: Twin Yamaha F300 outboards
When it comes to crossovers, the deadrise and the draft are the bread and butter.
Regulator executed both of these wonderfully in the 30XO; the deadrise comes in at 15 degrees from the transom – nearly 10 degrees shallower than the deep V of their offshore models – and the draft is a mere 21” with the engines up. Drop in a trolling motor and you can get your 30’7” boat deep in the flats, no problem.
Fishing and Functionality
We would be doing a disservice to Regulator if we didn’t mention the fishing-focused build and all the 30XO has to offer in functionality.
Starting at the Aft, the 30XO offers either dual-116 qts. livewells or a 116 qt. starboard livewell and 116 qts. of port dry storage. The rear seating includes 3 flip-up seats with dedicated 5 gallon bucket holders underneath – perfect for storing your cast net.

Moving past the transom, the leaning post packs a punch – offering a Corian Countertop above the tackle storage, waste basket, and freshwater washdown station. Additionally, the countertop is prefabricated to securely hold the cutting board – creating the perfect bait station for you and your crew.
And at the forward of the Regulator 30XO, you’ll find a 294 qt. in-deck, macerated fishbox, 218 qts. of storage under the console settee, and another 187 qts. of center forward storage.
Optionally, an upper station can be added; and this station is bad ass, if we’re being honest. From the sliding sunroof entrance, to the dual-station control center that features a Yamaha CL5 display, a Garmin 943 display, engine start/stop controls, and optional trim tab controls – this upper station is cool as (explicative).
The standard 30XO build includes 4 stainless steel rod holders, but Regulator offers up to 10 additional. Rod storage is found throughout, but the locking under-gunwale rod storage is a personal favorite.

And what kind of fishing performance report would we be giving without discussing the power?
The Regulator 30XO showcases twin white Yamaha F300 4-stroke engines with DES (Digital Electric Steering) tilt helm and DEC (Digital Electric Control), with the option to add a Helm Master EX joystick and EX Autopilot with Waypoint Deceleration.
You can also choose to add Hydraulic jackplates with helm-mounted pro trim control.
“The 30XO’s twin 300 outboards were power-matched to the hull in conjunction with Yamaha engineers to provide a dialed-in performance curve… The hull design, its weight and center of gravity are all critical aspects in the design process to give it the legendary Regulator ride while also keeping the draft within reach of running and fishing back sounds and bays.”
– David Clubbs, Senior Director of Engineering at Regulator
Reading up on Regulator’s Performance Report, the 30XO maxed 56.6 mph (~48 knots) at 5800 rpm, burning 53.9 gph and giving 1.05 mpg. Optimal cruise comes at 32.5 mph (~ 28 knots) with a 3500 mph – burning only 17.4 gph and achieving 1.86 gph.

The 30XO’s Console and Electronics
We’d be remiss to not discuss the console and electronics package on board… especially the 30XO’s beautiful dash.
The console features a white powder coat fiberglass t-top with spreader and RGB LED lights – complete with an integrated, vented wraparound windshield. The windshield includes the wiper/washer and 10 integrated rear rocket launchers.
There’s plenty of storage in and around, too – including illuminated glove boxes, recessed storage trays, and stainless steel cup holders.
…
Regulator has STACKED the 30XO when it comes to electronics.
The matte black dash panel provides a perfect, glare-free day on the water. The matte material is also fingerprint and watermark proof – meaning less time with a microfiber and more time with a reel.

Below the two reverse flush mounted 16” Garmin MFDs sits backlit push button switches, complete with laser etched text and symbols. To the left of the switches you’ll find another reverse flush in the Fusion Apollo 770.
Continuing to the lower dash – and just introduced to the industry at MIBS – Yamaha Next Generation Digital Boat Control System with Tilt Helm Digital Electric Steering (DES), Multifunction Digital Electronic Control (DEC), and CL5™ Multifunction Touchscreen Display. The 30XO includes proprietary Regulator MyHelm™ Interface for Seamless and Intuitive Connectivity of Key Functions via Touchscreen.
That was a mouthful…
Amongst the trim tabs, VHF, and digital gauging, you can also find a wireless phone charger made by Scanstrut. We have these on our boats and swear by the product (and the brand). Get yourself one of these (HERE) – you won’t regret it.
