This is a genuine Carling Technologies push button — not a knockoff like you’ll find elsewhere online. You’ve probably seen other sites list a switch as “fits Carling”…  and that’s a red flag. All our switches and covers are the genuine article. And, like all cheaply made counterfeits, you CAN tell the difference.

Typical use for an Nav Anc Rocker Switch:

Your “running lights” (also called navigation or nav lights) are the red and green lights on the bow. Your anchor light is the all round white light on the stern, or on top of the T-top or radar arch, etc. These are often controlled with one switch because they have a very specific operation per the USCG. When running (actually moving) at night, all lights should be on (red, green and white). While sitting at anchor in the dark, only the white light should be on.

This Carling AVH Push Button has the capability to serve as the Nav/Anc switch — use the function option Nav/Anc OFF-BOTH-ONE. It works like this:

  • From an OFF state, press once: The ring turns red and both leads are hot.
  • Press again, and the switch ring turns blue, and only the anchor lead is hot.

This switch is made specifically to work for a boat’s Navigation/Anchor switch, but can also be used in any situation where you want one or more lights on. For example, we’ve had customers who wanted either just AFT or AFT and FWD spreader lights on, and this switch does the trick.
