The chef’s kiss to the modern blackout dash… Reverse Flush Mounting.
While the flush mounting method isn’t totally new to the boating industry, we have perfected our reverse flush method, exclusively engineered and designed in our shop, in Charleston, SC.
We briefly touched on Reverse Flush in our Unit Mounting Styles post, but feel it absolutely deserves its own post.
Let’s dive in and learn about our patent pending process, as well as cover the most common questions we hear from customers!
How’s it Done?
We’re excited to share our first, in-depth look at the science behind our patent pending Alignment Spacer Mounting System that’s revolutionizing Reverse Flush mounting. The individual steps during design can get a little technical, but overall, the process is a pretty simple concept.

Reverse Flush mounted screens looks awesome. It’s quickly become the preferred choice for most boaters.
But achieving this look has significant challenges… that’s where our system comes in:
Before our patent pending Alignment spacer mounting system, most builders were forced to awkwardly maneuver the panel over the pre-mounted units… that had been shimmed up on the dash to make them flush.
But this required near-perfect precision for the MFD cutouts… and if done wrong, resulted in costly rework.
Our system allows for a much more generous tolerance… plus more time savings features:
To start, the units can now be assembled into the dash panel outside of the boat in a much more convenient setting.
It starts with the “alignment spacer”. This piece is attached to the MFD, providing a foundation that will ultimately guide the unit perfectly into it’s cutout.
This assembly can now be fit into the panel individually… dramatically simplifying the process. No more simultaneous wiggling of all the screens, harnesses and studs into their panel cutouts on the boat.
Studs hold the units onto the dash panel, but they only support the load temporarily… the fiberglass will ultimately support the weight of the screens.
The entire assembly can now be moved to the boat, where the cutouts have already been made.
The alignment studs go into overbored holes, and with a fender washer, double purpose to hold the panel down to the fiberglass.
The outcome is an unrivaled Reverse Flush appearance in a fraction of the time.

What is Reverse Flush?
Reverse Flush mounting is the process of securing a unit to the rear of the dash panel, creating a beautiful, flush appearance on the panel’s face.
As the creators of this process, we at New Wire Marine have found that our precision is often imitated, but never duplicated; through building thousands of panels that feature reverse flush mounting, we’ve changed the game for old boats, new-to-you boats, and even brand new boats built by our OEM partners.
